Winter is a fantastic season for photography, but how do you capture truly spectacular alpine images?
Based at Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park this weekend photography workshop is designed to help you master winter photography with multiple hands-on shoots in the field, and instructive Lightroom processing sessions. During the weekend we will cover:
• Composition – what are the rules, how do they work and which style to choose when
• The Creative Process – how to see creatively and achieve what you have visualised
• Light and Colour – learn about the influence of light and colour and how these elements affect mood and emotion
• Wide Angle to Telephoto – how to choose the correct focal length for your composition
• Taking the Camera off Auto – learn how to take control of your camera
• Lightroom – in-depth instruction on how bring your vision to life in post-process
Your tutor for the weekend is New Zealand professional landscape photographer Phillip Bartlett. Phillip has been teaching photographers, beginners to experienced professionals, from 2005 and his patient, relaxed style will inspire and equip you to grow as a photographer.
Day two AORAKI/MT COOK NATIONAL PARK
We leave pre-dawn to be in position for our first-light shoot of Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Southern Alps. We will work the different compositions in this area as the sun rises before returning to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we meet for hands-on Lightroom processing instruction of our new images. After lunch we travel to different locations to practice field technique before setting up for last-light photography of the mountains. After dinner, we enjoy another amazing astrophotography session.
Day three AORAKI/MT COOK NATIONAL PARK
This morning we photograph sunrise at Tasman Glacier lake, which is backdropped by towering mountains. After breakfast we meet for another Lightroom processing session, with one-to-one instruction. There will also be the opportunity for an optional doors-off helicopter shoot for those interested. Late morning we depart and return to Queenstown for those who are returning home from there.
