You have just bought your first camera, or decided to take up landscape photography. Where to from here?
Based at Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park this weekend photography workshop will help you understand and master the fundamentals of landscape photography, through multiple hands-on sessions out in the field. During the weekend we will cover:
• Composition – what works and why
• The Creative Process – how to achieve what you have visualised
• Light and Colour – how to create mood and emotion
• Wide Angle to Telephoto – how to choose the correct focal length
• Taking the Camera off Auto – controlling your camera
• Introduction to Lightroom – processing tips and techniques
Your tutor for the weekend is New Zealand landscape and nature photographer Phillip Bartlett. Phillip has been teaching photographers, beginners to experienced professionals from around the world, for almost fifteen years and his patient, good-natured style will inspire and equip you as you start your own photography journey.
Day two AORAKI/MT COOK NATIONAL PARK
We leave the hotel pre-dawn to be in position for the first light on Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Southern Alps. We will work the different compositions in this area as the sun rises before returning to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we meet for an informal ‘Question and Answer’ session to discuss different landscape photography techniques and photo gear issues. We follow this with a hands-on Lightroom processing tutorial. In the afternoon we travel to another location for last-light photography on the mountains.
Day three AORAKI/MT COOK NATIONAL PARK
This morning we photograph sunrise at Tasman Glacier lake which is backdropped by towering mountains. After breakfast we have another Lightroom processing session. Late morning we depart and return to Queenstown arriving in the late afternoon.
