On this adventure we begin in the Komodo National Park travelling by luxury traditional Indonesian sailing boat, called a phinisi, as we photograph the ruggedly impressive volcanic islands and imposing Komodo dragons found in this region. We then transfer to East Java to prepare for our jungle expedition in the Tanjung Puting National Park in Borneo. Cruising the Borneo interior on a traditional riverboat, known as a klotok, we search for orang-utan, proboscis, macaques, red leaf monkeys, hornbills and much more. We will also visit Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centres and be led by our expert local guide along jungle paths to photograph the deep forest and any fauna we encounter.
Returning to East Java we travel to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park region. This will be our base for three nights, allowing us two full days to explore the mesmerising Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park volcanic plateau. We then travel to the nearby historic city of Malang. Here we photograph traditional market life and the friendly faces of the photogenic Javanese people.
A short flight then brings us back to Bali, and the end of our sensational adventure.
Every detail of this expedition has been meticulously planned and our third-party partners provide a first-class experience. Charter vessel’s on-board facilities and cuisine are designed with the discerning international traveller in mind, while crew experience and safety standards are world-class. Where possible we have selected luxury Indonesian-inspired lodgings which embody the grace and design of this intriguing culture, and the sumptuous meals we enjoy throughout the expeditions are an experience in themselves.
We look forward to seeing you in Indonesia next year.

“It was indeed worthwhile to have taken the “plunge” to come to the other end of the world and to put the travel schedule into your hands. A. Bulato, Switzerland
“I learned a lot about camera settings, composition, light and right moment and much more. I also learned about the difference between a good picture, a postcard picture, art and fine art – this is essential on my way to artist!”
M. Rauvala, Finland
“What an amazing trip! Thanks so much for your instruction, my images are so much better due to you both.”
S. Williams, USA
Almost fifteen years ago I started guiding photographers and have been referred to as the most highly regarded landscape photography instructor in New Zealand. I have also been photographing in Indonesia for 30 years and as a native-language speaker have access to photo opportunities others do not have.
The most valuable asset of digital photography, from a learning perspective, is being able to instantly assess each capture. This is immensely helpful when I am working with photographers to develop their individual style and master new techniques.
You are most welcome to join me on this awe-inspiring workshop.
